I'm punying around...

I'm stayin' in bed. I've played on Facebook for a while, but just can't get 'into' it. I'm aching, sore, stuffed up, drippy nose, coughing and wheezing.. and.. and.... and......... I have a cold.
Thomas had the last of his food today, and I can't go out shopping the way I am right now. He'll manage on table scraps and milk.
Bills finally got written up and out to the box, but I'm not sure whether I beat the mailman or not. It just hasn't been a wonderful day all around today.. and I'm feeling 'thick headed' so that it would be just as well if I went and took a little (or big) nap.

Hope everyone else is having a better time..

I thought I'd feel better by now..

I took a long 'nap' this morning and into the afternoon. I've been up for an hour for the 2nd time today. I feel lousy.

It looks like we got about 5" snow, not much more than that. But it's really cold out there. 12*F right now, and the wind is blowing .. causing a wind chill of -1*F . I'm staying inside where it's warm, but had to check on Thomas who, I believe, hasn't been out of his box all day either. He was hungry. Getting low on Meow Mix.. will have to go out tomorrow for supplies for him at least. Wendell and I can manage over the weekend without groceries.

I need to get the bills paid tonite. We got paid on Wednesday, but I've been so sick I just can't get to it. UGH.
No word yet from the insurance company or the hospital rep.

On to other things...
Where is spring? !

uh oh

I woke up at about 3am coughing and all stuffed up. I decided to make a pot of coffee to apply something warm to my throat which is still sore. Feeling chilled, though it's warm in the house. My diagnosis would be sinusitis with post nasal drip causing the sore throat and cough. So far so good, but we shall see what the day brings forth.
Hopefully I'll hear from my insurance today and the verdict will be in my favor. It's hard to be patient, but I must do so.
Bill paying day today.. and I need some groceries.. but wonder if I'll go out. The snow storm came from the east yesterday for hours, but then moved from the west. There was about an inch on the back porch, but it appears more on the car. Maybe close to 2" , but certainly not more. I see the temperature is to be 2* Friday night... brrrrrrrrrrrr

No whining tonight. I thought my throat was better, but it's started getting sore again. Blahhhhhh.

It is a lovely day.. lots happening here. Wendell saw the doctor and he again suggested that he have the gastric banding surgery. He's willing, but it can't be done locally.. so we wait.

In the mean time, I discovered that my insurance company had billed me erroneously, and I may get my insurance back retroactively. YAY! That would be such a blessing. No matter what happens, God is still in charge and reigns supreme in my life. He's cared for me this far, I have no doubt for my future.
So I am waiting to hear from either the hospital or the insurance company for word on the verdict.

We are having another snow storm today. We went from "in excess of 6" , to 3-6", and now 2-5". We already have an inch on the car.. so we shall see in the morning.

On to the rest of my evening..

Just a short whine....

Tonight I have a sore throat. I've been gargling with hypertonic salt water, but it's still hard to swallow. So now I have a cup of hot lemon tea in front of me..
any other home remedies ?

Mary Poppins

Our seats were the very back of the theater.. We could see perfectly and hear well too. This was so much fun~ can't wait to do it again!
Before the theater, we went to dinner~ another nice touch. Traffic was horrific from dinner to the theater. We actually missed the first scene of Act 1. But it was just fine. We loved the whole thing.

It was after I took the picture of the curtains that said "Mary Poppins" that one of the ushers tapped me on the shoulder and said 'No, pictures, please'.. so I tucked my camera in my purse at that point. Hope I don't get sued for putting my pictures here on my blog.

Last night was our annual Christmas gift from Keith and JJ. We have been doing this for several years now, but I think this one was about the best yet! We have gone to Soldiers and Sailors to see the Raleigh Ringers twice, and once to see the Messiah. Wendell was so impressed, he made the comment that he wouldn't mind going to see this one again.. hehehe. I'm so glad he liked it!

Annabelle and Hornacorn

He huffed and he puffed and he blew out all 10 candles with ease..

And then the chorus of singers serenaded Daniel with "Happy Birthday to YOU"

Papa Wendell lit the candles..

P3.. getting handsomer every time I see him!

Well, THIS looks like it needs a good caption attached. Paul looks bored, David is amused, Annabelle has that QE2 wave down pretty good, and Jeffrey is telling Daniel not to fear, he knows the Heimlich.

Cousin Jeffrey, Annabelle, and birthday boy Daniel. We were just getting ready to sing to Daniel

Birthday boy and his cake~ Annabelle and cousin Jeffrey were very interested in what Daniel was doing~ he was putting 10 black candles on his cake.

It was Daniel's 10th birthday. We decided to have his party at our house because we have space and are centrally located for the guests. Daniel wanted a sleepover, so that is exactly what we did. He also requested roast beef and mashed potatoes for his birthday meal. We managed to grant that request too, thanks to Aunt Amanda and Uncle John.

What's your thorn?

God uses chronic pain and weakness, along with other afflictions, as his chisel for sculpting our lives. Felt weakness deepens dependence on Christ for strength each day. The weaker we feel, the harder we lean. And the harder we lean, the stronger we grow spiritually, even while our bodies waste away. To live with your "thorn" uncomplainingly- that is, sweet , patient, and free in heart to love and help others, even though every day you feel weak- is true sanctification. It is true healing for the spirit. It is a supreme victory of grace. The healing of your sinful person thus goes forward, even though the healing of your mortal body does not.

Prayer

I believe in prayer. God hears his saints as they cry out to him and He answers. Have you ever felt someone pray for you? I have. The first time was when I had my first major surgery. I was struggling with moving and suddenly became aware of a renewed strength. It wasn't till later I was talking to someone from our church who said they felt the need to pray for me, and at that time, I was in the midst of that difficulty. I knew it was the result of their prayer that upheld me.
Today I'm aware of someone , maybe more than one, praying that I will have no barriers to attend worship today. It's a most wonderful feeling of knowing that someone loves me that much. I had posted my frustrations about last Sabbath to this blog. I wonder if someone read it and has taken action to prevent it from happening once again.
Here I am... 6:30am.. not sure which church we will attend today, but planning to be there no matter.
Just as a reassurance note~ I pray for my children and grandchildren by name every day. I remember my mother doing that for me, and I miss it.

Cat Cave

We were expecting a lot of snow, and Thomas' box kept getting hit with a pile inside , making life miserable for him~ at least *I* wouldn't like a wet bed to sleep on. So before the next snow hit, I decided to use what I had and secure his box against wind and snow. He has a small hole where he can crawl in~ and he does. Wendell calls this his "Cat Cave". Thomas seems to like it. He spends a lot of hours inside with his toy mouse from Cricket and Carlow Zombeck. Bottom line~ he's warm and cozy and loves it!
