PIZZA PARTY DAY
The Valentine kids picked red raspberries... we really didn't put a dent in them
Esther collected her's in her hands.. huge big handful.
Gayle ate her's faster than anyone else.. but she kept on picking them..
Isaac's berries.. he had quite a few .. we are going to have them on our banana splits tomorrow.

It was a good day yesterday.. all went very well at the office and today I am gainfully employed at the hospital. I'm wishing that I didn't have to go because we are having company tomorrow.
Pizza party tomorrow evening.. should be fun.
I just looked at the weather report and was a bit shocked to see it's going to be 88 degrees.. today, tomorrow, and possibly Sabbath. WOW! And NO rain in sight. Now, that is a great weather report for October in WPA.
I'm a bit sore today. I can't believe I wasn't yesterday after office- I usually am very sore after that, but it's all here today to make up for it. It really feels like it's gonna rain, but the weather prognosticator says otherwise.
Remember us with prayer please..
Pray for our family as they travel today and tomorrow. For Cory, Wendy, and family.. for Becky and Aaron.
Pray also for Barb and Duane and their family- for healing and restoration for Barb.
Pray for cousin Dave as he continues chemo for his cancer, and also for Nicki in Chicago this week for her treatments.
Remember our world and national leaders.. so much happening and so much evil is unleashed.
For hearts that would turn to Jesus for forgiveness.. for repentance. For revival of the American people.

TAKING LIFE A BIT LESS SERIOUSLY
I had to stop at the pharmacy for my 2 new inhalers.. and then off to work. When I got to work I discovered my Nystatin bottle wasn't in my pocket. Now, this bottle is liquid medication for the thrush in my mouth , and I'm supposed to be using it 4x/day at least. I'd used it 3x already, but where was it? It's bulky and heavy.. it couldn't just disappear. So I called Wendell to have him look around. No.. he couldn't find it. Well... nothing I could do but go into work.
Work was frustrating in a way.. just a steady barrage of patients coming and going. I'm not complaining.. just stating the fact, for without patients, I have no job. But they came and went so fast I could bearly keep up. The last admission had me bummed at 11:17pm... and I was due to leave at 11:30pm. No night secretary last night, so I stayed and put the chart together.
I decided a nice hot cup of tea would help me unwind, but when the bell went off on the microwave, my tea water was icy cold yet. Hmmmm.. try it again... now I smelled something electrical.. and the appliance was making an odd buzzing sound. I turned it off and drank water instead..
It had been a day of just frustrating things happening... I was trying to cope. I got online and suddenly felt exhausted... so I planned to go to bed. That was when I discovered my bottle of Nystatin.. on the bed. Well... I laughed at how silly I was.. Now I remembered. I was calling my patients for Thursday's office.. and it was in my way.. so I layed it on the bed. I guess I forgot I'd left it there
All my mountains seemed to crumble as I thought about the "catastrophes" of the day..
All of them were now 'bumps in the road'.. I laughed again and went to sleep.

The old toddler swing saw better days and was broken.. Wendell bought Annabelle and Eli a new one and put it up for them today.

"Gramma...? Can we play in the woods?".... "I saw a hundred deer back there!!!!!"
Oh... why not? So they headed behind the house to the woods. They love that old A frame building.. it's falling apart, but they climb it to the top. They had tied a heavy rope to a tree and then tossed it to the other side of the building and used it to climb.

David isn't into that climbing stuff yet.. he preferred the safety of the driveway and playing with stones and mud.

I found this rather amusing.. I heard the older kids squealing and laughing.. so I went to see what was so funny, but as I was passing by Charlie's compost pile, I thought to myself "hmm... I wonder if he's trying to grow eggplant?"Well.. there was a kitten in the catalpa tree.. can you see it?

David tells me he doesn't like berries.. so he spent his time on the swingset.. He's getting so good at getting off and on by himself.

The 4 local grandkids came for a little while today.. The first thing we did was go berry picking. The red raspberries are ripe and huge and juicy.. ready to make jelly! We shall make jelly in a week or two with them. For now, they are in the freezer and ready to go.

Good morning !It's a wonderful day and gainful employment awaits. Yesterday was refreshing and I feel ready to face another day of whatever is waiting for me at 3pm.
Spots in my mouth are disappearing! Hooray!!! I have been hitting it hard with the Nystatin and it's working.
Nothing much happening today.. perhaps later..

BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY
This was one of the most beautiful days this year.. not too hot, not too cool.. just right! I enjoyed this day off from all the employment and was outside about 40% of my day. I went out back and watched for deer.. but I didn't see any..sigh..
But I did see Charlie out in the garden looking at what is left for the season.. I was out there earlier and got 3 zucchinis, apples and what I could find of tomatoes. Not many left suitable for eating. I was pleased that I didn't start any wheezing.. it's a good thing.
I think we live on one of the most beautiful pieces of ground in the township. Charlie keeps it that way.. he's the resident gardener.
The burning bush is really starting to look like it's name.. and now I see the little red berries.
John and Mandy are getting ready to feed the birds for the winter.. it can't be too far in the future.. They call them the 'hogs' because in one day they will empty each container.
This is the maple tree in the front yard.. isn't it beautiful?! It is changing faster than any other tree in the area.
Today I made supper for us.. pork chops, baked potato, zucchini fried in olive oil, and salad with our tomatoes. It was a good supper, but I think the meat was a tad dryer than I like.
I'm back on the big C diet again. I've got a few small spots in my mouth. I am back on the medication for it too- as often as I can tolerate it. It's a disgusting tasting medicine and makes me feel like puking when I swish it in my mouth.. but I do it anyway. The doctor says I'm safe around the public, not to worry.. but I do feel some concern by times. I'll be happy when I get off the inhaler that causes this problem and enjoy a few months of reprieve.
The funeral for Jeff Hixon was today. It made the Pgh tv news. The farmers from all around the area all brought their tractors to the funeral and then escorted the hearse to the cemetery. It was an awesome sight. I don't know for sure how many there were, but there were a lot.(see JJ's blog for a link to the video)
At the gravesite was Jeff's tractor. Wendell and I didn't get to go to the funeral sadly. We determined that yesterday was an indication of how many would be there.. and decided it would be too much for us to stand for any length of time. Yesterday Wendell stood for 2 hours outside the funeral home.. the line was about 2 blocks long. When they left at about 4:30pm, the line was still 2 blocks long.. A huge amount of people came to pay their respect. They said it was that way with each visitation.. the evenings going till after 10pm.
It was worth the wait for them.. many family members and old friends were there.
We are planning a pizza party for Saturday for our family. Our niece Becky and her son Aaron will be visiting over the weekend as well as our Valentine family from NY area. Lots of things planned.. Isaac asked for s'mores... so we shall have them... and perhaps another surprise for the children too... ah, the last blast of summer!
