And bit the babies in the cradles.
And ate the cheeses out of vats,
And licked the soup from the cooks' own ladles,
Split open the kegs of salted sprats,
Made nests inside men's Sunday hats,
And even spoiled the women's chats,
By drowning their speaking
With shrieking and squeaking
In fifty different sharps and flats.
"I'm not going to ever have to worry about putting gas in my car or pay my mortgage!"
WHAT!? What planet do we live on? Or is this a 'trick' from trick or treat?
I have a sense of pride in that which I've earned in my lifetime.
I need someone to "take care of me".. I'll chose my Lord and God - His promises are true and real and have no questionable dark sides. He gives us good advice:

It's been chilly all day.Tonite it's to be about 28 degrees.. and we have one little petunia plant with several blossoms who seem to be unaware that their neighbor petunias have all succumbed to the cold. Who'd'a thought it? Cute little purple flower.!
Well, according to the news, it looks like the students who hung Obama's effigy are now arrested and in jail. Hmmmm.. no, not even a slap on the wrist for the people who hung Mrs Palin in effigy in California. What am I to believe about our judicial system? Either the university has no sense of humor or California police are negligent in arresting the ones responsible for Mrs Palin's effigy. I'm not holding my breath. What justice?! Is this whole situation a race problem and since Mrs Palin has a white color to her skin, she is being persecuted? It' s all getting a little old. Time for our citizens to grow up now. Become responsible, get a job (I noticed a "help wanted" sign in the window of Burger King this week), and get a sense of humor .. but not a SICK sense of humor. That's immature.
I believe we should go back to the ideal of only those who own land should be permitted to vote in any elections. I believe that would solve many problems.. I also think the electoral college is outdated. Sorry.. but the citizens should elect the candidates. And EVERY voter should have to present a photo ID issued by the home state (think driver's license which doubles as a photo ID) . No ID, no vote. AND.. all candidates should HAVE to present a VALID birth certificate to prove they are natural born citizens. By the way, in Ohio, Obama may have his name removed from the ballot because the Secretary of State didn't do her job. So why isn't Pennsylvania following suit? I'm ready. We live in a dangerous age.. as a part of national security if nothing else, we need to protect our nation and it's citizens by being assured that these things are researched before putting just anyone on the ballot. I want someone who loves my country like I do and who won't take any of our freedoms away if he can prohibit it. That goes for Congress too.. We have some nasties in Congress who want our nation to implode.
Maybe I should run for office. I'm very opinionated, eh?
That and about $1.50 should get me a small coffee.. (((smile)))
Hey.. you knew I was a very opinionated person when you started reading my blog.. I won't apologize... it's MY opinion.
Nothing could ruin my day today...I'm still smiling and feeling super.
Last night as Mr Obama spoke of asking Americans to be accountable by conserving energy and being more responsible I wondered.
Would the lights be turned off and the heat turned down in the private quarters of the White House?
Would his children go without anything?
As he spoke of the money we have spent in Iraq which we know saved a country from the tyranny of a ruthless dictator and insurgent terrorists who tried to fill the vacuum and how it could have been spent on our economy I wondered.
How many homes could have been saved just from the money he has spent on his campaign.
When Joe Biden said Obama will be tested within six months by a crisis to see what he's made of and that he has a spine made of steel I asked myself.
Where was that spine of steel when he sat in Reverend Wrights church for 20 years listening to the hatred of our country and never once stood up and said "I will not listen to or have my children hear this hatred from the pulpit"?
Mr Obama speaks of sitting at Khalidi's kitchen table having many discussions as Khalidi's wife Mona cooked for them.
They babysat the Obama children so they were not just someone in his neighborhood.
He worked on boards with Bill Ayers.
He thought of Reverend Wright as an uncle.
Frank Davis was a close friend of his Grandparents and of his as a young man.
Tony Rezco backed him in his political career.
The more time we spend around someone the more they influence our thinking and shape our ideology.
That leads me to question how much Bill Ayers,Reverend Wright Rashid Khalidi,Tony Rezco and even Louis Ferricon and Frank Davis must have influenced him.
The final analysis is that he had no patriotic Americans as his friends but rather socialist Communist terrorist connected and criminal friends.
Those ideologies are the ones he would bring to the White House.
My husband proudly serves this country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
I am the leader of a military wives support group.
We support John McCain because he represents the patriotism that made this country great.
He will not bring socialism, communism, or terrorism into the White House.
The ethics of hard work paying off instead of costing more will endure.
The wicked will not rule the godly, for then the godly might be forced to do wrong.
Psalm 125:3 NLT
Seeking what is really there
"Life under Louis XIV was not easy for the French Huguenots.
They loved to sing psalms, but the king made an edict that forbade the singing of the Psalms almost everywhere.
So the Huguenots went out to the fields and forests and continued their singing.
Psalm 125 was a favorite of theirs, maybe because it said that the wicked would not rule the godly.
Or maybe it was because the Huguenots could see something that Louis XIV couldn't see.
Remember the story of Elisha and his servant (2 Kings 6:8-23)?
The servant couldn't understand why Elisha wasn't bothered about the hordes of enemy soldiers surrounding them.
It looked like disaster, but Elisha could see horses and chariots of fire surrounding the enemy soldiers.
The same has been true for many other saints, including Paul and Silas, who sang at midnight in the Philippian jail, and Shadrach, Meshech, and Adednego, who calmly entered the fiery furnace.
When John Woolman, a Quaker missionary to American Indians, was faced with danger, he wrote, "I found my soul filled with comfort as I meditated on the love of God."
John Paton, missionary to South Sea Island natives, was surrounded by men seeking to assassinate him, but he wrote, "I never left without hearing, 'Lo, I am with you always.'"
How does it look for you today? Hopeless? Then take another look.
adapted from The One Year® Book of Psalms with devotionals by William J. Petersen and Randy Petersen (Tyndale) entry for October 24"
Remember us today.. pray for my skills to be the best and for my patients to have no 'events'.. I expect 10 patients today.
It's 30 degrees.. brrrr! But I'm toasty warm inside.. coffee in hand, breakfast already prepared for me .. and there is a short list of things to do today before I leave for the office. Feeling drowsy but good this morning.
Time to hit the shower..

I went with Wendell to see his PCP today. Wendell has been having a problem with his glucose bouncing everywhere... so...
He now has an appointment with a local endocrinologist to try to adjust the problem. AND he has another appointment with a local nephrologist, as his labs show his kidneys are developing a problem due to his diabetes.
Please remember him with prayer.. he's having many diabetes related problems.
Also, John's Gramma Z passed away tonite. Remember Pap and the whole family.. John and Mandy too
As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama officially becomes president-elect, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:
1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are under-achieving a "fair shake".
2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst you. This will help those who are "too busy for overtime" to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.
3. All top management will now be referred to as "the government." We will not participate in this "pooling" experience because the law doesn't apply to us.
4. The "government" will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard "for the good of all".
5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's "good to spread the wealth around". Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more "patriotic".
6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?)!!!
Obama dummy found hanging Effigy of Democrat called 'disgusting,' but Palin's hailed as fun Halloween art
Police are investigating the discovery of an effigy of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama dangling from a tree this morning at the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington.
"I am personally offended and deeply embarrassed by this disgusting episode," said Lee Todd, president of the university in a campus-wide e-mail. "This is not reasonable political expression; it is just malicious. And it is unacceptable."
Todd plans to apologize to the Obama family on behalf of the school, which immediately removed the life-sized dummy said to be outfitted with an Obama Halloween mask, a suit jacket and sweat pants.
"I feel outraged and hurt. I am outraged because we work very hard, every day, to build bridges across the divides," said Todd. "Diversity and inclusion are among our most precious core values. Episodes like this serve only to erode our confidence in and respect for one another."
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear called the incident "embarrassing" and "deeply offensive." "This was not political speech. It was simply hate," he said, according to the Associated Press.
(NOW, THAT'S IF IT IS MR OBAMA HANGING IN EFFIGY.. THINGS ARE DIFFERENT FOR SARAH PALIN...)
While some local residents are outraged, others, including display creator Chad Michael Morrissette, are defending it, calling it Halloween-related fun."It should be seen as art, and it should be seen as, within the month of October, it is Halloween. It is time to be scary. It is time to be spooky," he told the CBS-TV affiliate in Los Angeles. Local authorities have said the Palin effigy is not a hate crime. "I'm not defending this; I'm not criticizing it. It doesn't rise to the level of hate crime," Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, told the Los Angeles Times. "Now, if there was a crime against bad taste ... . "
(How can the hanging of Mrs Palin be considered FUN and the hanging of Obama, not?)
Today Wendell sees his PCP. I'll be going with him. His blood sugars have been jumping up and down like a yoyo. The prospect of him joining the YMCA with us is encouraging. He needs exercise to get his BS under control. The other choice is an endocrinologist.
It's just a little after 5am. I've slept well again. It has to be the pool exercises. Feeling good here.

These six things the LORD hates,Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.
Here I am this afternoon.. at the Aquarthritis class at the Y. I have to laugh.. Do I look that goofy? Certainly it doesn't matter as EVERYONE looks this way.. hehehehe
We had a great workout.. I'm still a little sore. Thanks, Jane.. see you tomorrow for the Seniorcize class.. this is fabulous!
Pearl of Wisdom: "You put the word 'justice' next to 'socialism,' and it will fool a bunch of idealistic kids. A lot of people may not really know what socialism is. It's the soft word for communism, for the state running your life, for 'equalizing' society by taking from those at the top and make everybody equally miserable near the bottom."
Explaining socialism to kids: You trick-or-treat; Obama spreads around your candy.
39 degrees is the high today.. and it's 38 right now. Typical fall blending into winter weather.. Rain, wind, snow.. Ugh! But if we want to see the rainbow, we gotta have the rain.. though today I doubt there will be any rainbows.
As long as I don't have to drive on the ice and snow, I'm a happy camper and content to let nature be... not that I have any control anyway.
More than half of the tree leaves are on the ground now. Sadly, except for a couple oddballs, they are all brown or shades of dirty yellow. It hasn't been a beauteous fall as in other years. The rain and wind this week have done their damage.
We are still enjoying watching the antics of the local squirrels.. 2 are definitely resident, and we've seen another one too. My bag of apples that I kept outside to keep the fruit fly population down in the house has been depleted by raccoons.. or one very health conscious raccoon.. Wendell says he saw it digging in the bag a day or so ago. I really don't care to have a raccoon around here. I prefer the silly squirrels. The raccoon (or perhaps another larger animal) has done damage to the tree and the squirrel feeder we have. The feeder box is shredded on one side- not something even Rocket J Squirrel could have accomplished. And the bark on the tree is ripped up too. Looks like the work of something other than our little squirrely friends.
I took my bag of peanuts outside and sat down to watch them. The feeder box was empty. I wondered if they would come closer to get a treat. I placed 3 peanuts in the shell on the picnic table. One lonely squirrel sat on the box and scolded me furiously, it's tail gracefully snapping in the air. I finally gave in and tossed a handful of the peanuts in the box.
I think our squirrels are liberal Democrats.. they demand what I have worked for and paid for out of my own pocket.. as if they were entitled to it.. HAH! And when the birdseed goes in the feeder, they will be there stealing the bird's feed. Yep! I got their number!
I will also keep feeding the little thieves through the winter. They do give us a degree of entertainment.
It is such a joy to live in the country. One gets a first hand view of God's creation(s).. and can appreciate a little better. When was the last time a herd of 10-14 deer marched by in YOUR front yard? Often I've considered cutting down those crab apple trees, but they feed the deer all winter long. I'm glad John posted the property against hunters.. we supply a refuge for wildlife.
Of course, Charlie would disagree.. they do crop damage too..but then they also go to the other neighbors gardens and fields too. It's not like we have the only food in the neighborhood.. they just don't get shot here indiscriminately.
The groundhogs are another story.. they are despicable little creatures that cause more than just a little damage.. like eating the insulation off the bottoms of cars.. and take one bite out of a piece of fruit and then go to the rest and do the same.. and dig huge holes in the ground trying to get under our house.. (they failed at that thankfully) Moles are another nasty.. they dig their tunnels through the yard, and when I walk outside I trip on them as I sink down into their hidden tunnels.
Rabbits are entertaining in a fashion.. we call them all "Doug's bunny".. (it's a long story)
We don't seem to have as many bunnies this year- a few.
Lots of different birds keep us birdwatching all year long.. the hawks, pheasants, all summer, crows, nuthatches, robins, blue jays, woodpeckers, cardinals and hummingbirds.. among the many we identify.. I remember one year we had a Baltimore Oriole build a nest high up in the trees.. the nest looks like a sack. Haven't seen any since. And don't forget Charlie's Angels..'the girls', his chickens.
Have a super day, bloggers..
From CNN Chief National Correspondent John King
Prime example of why people don't trust newsmedia.. all false news.. I rest my case.
SANTA FE, New Mexico (CNN) – For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or “Dewey Beats Truman” déjà vu 60 years later.
“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface.
The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct 26-Nov 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.
In an article explaining their choice, the editors unabashedly wrote, “When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement.”

favorite pumpkins, and now have carved them.. they have fancy tools
that help them make the lines carefully. Here's Mandy working on hers.
John has gutted his pumpkin (and the chickens got a special treat)..
and he's thinning the wall of the pumpkin so his knife goes all the way through.
Each pumpkin weighs somewhere around 40#
Before we left, we hopped in the whirlpool.. ahhhhhhhhhhh
So nice. I'm relaxed and will sleep well tonite I'm sure.
Tomorrow we go again, and Wednesday and then Friday too. I can't wait.
Thou holdest me by my right hand.
24 And Thou, ev'n Thou, my guide shalt be;
Thy counsel shall my way command;
And afterward in glory bright
Shalt Thou receive me to Thy sight.
25 For whom have I in heav'n but Thee?
None else on earth I long to know.
26 My flesh may faint and weary be;
My heart may fail and heavy grow;
With strength doth God my heart restore;
He is my portion evermore.
27 They perish that are far from Thee;
Lo, in their lewdness they shall die.
28 But surely it is good for me
That unto God I should draw nigh.
I refuge take in GOD the Lord,
That all Thy works I may record.
Words of comfort in times of anxiety and stress.. and dare I say, fear?
My heart goes out to those without the Savior. No wonder they wander aimlessly and have fear of the future. They have nothing to look forward to and nothing for which to live except the present, and that is crumbling rapidly. Indeed they should fear, for those who do not worship God have a dismal eternity.

John's gram was flown to UPMC Presby tonite after suffering cardiac arrest. Please pray for the family as a whole, and add her to your prayer chains.
Pray for those who care for her and her doctors. Pray for a positive outcome, and as always, that God's will would be accomplished.
Thanks everyone.. and thank the Father who loves us and cares for us in troubling times.
It seems as though we should be more than ever thankful to the God of Creation that he has given us so much. If you were blessed enough to be born in America, you are among the wealthiest people in the entire world. I'm not speaking of money, but of a land of opportunity... formed 200 years ago by men with Christian principles.. men who believed in the God of the Bible, and who gave their lives willingly on that standard and who prayed.
Today they would scarcely recognize the government they planned and formed so many years ago. Yet one thing has not changed in the least, that God is still the God of the universe, and He alone controls all things- for this I rejoice and my heart is filled with joy.
The one gift that God gives all believers is the soul..the soul that cannot be touched by another man. Man may take away all the comforts of this life, but God holds his own in the hollow of his hand. It comforts me to know that my soul is safe.
Christians must be praying for God's will to be done.
It is the Sabbath. I'll be in church. I'm thankful for that freedom. How about you? You can still worship God in your home church- will you? There are those in our country who would take that away from you if they could, and they might. They might make it criminal for you to attend your house of worship as a Christian. Pray this might not be so.
It's a beautiful morning.. sunny and 39 , and hopefully we'll get to 55. Remember the Sabbath as you are commanded to keep it Holy.

Philip J. Berg is Appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court as Obama is "NOT" qualified to be President of the United States Lawsuit Against Obama Dismissed from Philadelphia Federal Court
For Immediate Release: - 10/25/08 - Contact Info at end.
(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 10/25/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States, announced today that he is immediately appealing the dismissal of his case to the United States Supreme Court. The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.
Berg said, "I am totally disappointed by Judge Surrick's decision and, for all citizens of the United States, I am immediately appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.
This is a question of who has standing to uphold our Constitution. If I don't have standing, if you don't have standing, if your neighbor doesn't have standing to question the eligibility of an individual to be President of the United States - the Commander-in-Chief, the most powerful person in the world - then who does?
So, anyone can just claim to be eligible for congress or the presidency without having their legal status, age or citizenship questioned.
According to Judge Surrick, we the people have no right to police the eligibility requirements under the U.S. Constitution.
What happened to ‘...Government of the people, by the people, for the people,...’ Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address 1863.
We must legally prevent Obama, the unqualified candidate, from taking the Office of the Presidency of the United States,” Berg said.
Our website obamacrimes.com now has 71.8 + million hits. We are urging all to spread the word of our website – and forward to your local newspapers and radio and TV stations.
Berg again stressed his position regarding the urgency of this case as, “we” the people, are heading to a “Constitutional Crisis” if this case is not resolved forthwith.

It makes one wonder..
But also remember that God is stronger than anything man can toss at Him.. the wisest plans of men are like the foolishness of God..
We have reached the high for the day, and it's only 9am. 52 degrees and rainy. I'll take the rain any day over snow or ice.
That's the report on the outside.. inside, I'm patting myself on the back and cheering myself to a victory... As I've noted on DOWNSIZING, I couldn't stand the anticipation till weigh in day on Monday- so I hopped on the scales looking for a bit of reinforcement that my diet and exercise plan is actually working...it is. I've lost 3# this week. There is a bonus here.. I FEEL GOOD.
Today I'll be cleaning up around here.. 15 minute blocks of activity with rest in between. Got my timer out. I can do anything for 15 minutes.

HDL 50 (<55 greater coronary risk)
LDL 165 (high risk 160-189)
Triglycerides 284 (40-200 normal)
Glucose fasting 101 (normal <100)
A1C 6.3 ( normal 4.2-5.8)
BP 140/82..high for me. Weight loss will help
Lungs are clear... HOORAY At least there was good news here.
So I'm pretty borderline across the board, but certainly these things need addressed.
I have a new script for Crestor for the lipids, and Lovasa for the Triglycerides
He says to keep going with the diet, and definitely do the water aerobics.. (thanks, Jane)
I go back in January for more labs and another office visit.
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Cholesterol and triglycerides were slightly elevated too.
By the way, I'm feeling pretty good on this diet program.. it's low carb and normal everything else.. I'm eliminating bread, pasta, sugar, cookies, cake, candy and fruits for the time being. Hopefully I can add them in sparingly later.
Office was okay today.. I tried to keep moving most of the day.
Weather: it's 55 and windy making it feel a lot colder. Tonite it will be 34 degrees. There was a hard frost on my car this morning.
There is still one lonely petunia blooming for all it's worth... deep purple.
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed–just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I'm reviving my DOWNSIZING blog. I have a lot of weight to lose.. and I'm determined to do so.
You can watch my progress if you wish. I think that my weight issue is two fold.. I'm a carboholic, and I don't get enough exercise. I'll be addressing these things as I attempt to eliminate the pounds over the next year.
As I said, I have a LOT to lose, and I won't be sad when I do.
I'm heading outside for a walk..
It's been so cold around WPA.. and the "S" word keeps coming up.. Maybe the forecasters were right about a long and hard winter coming. Well, we are pretty much overdue for one.
To those of you who drink the koolaid of global warming.. well, you'll have exceptionally low electric/gas bills this winter I suppose, but only in your dreams. As for me, I'll play it by ear with my little heater off and on in the evenings, and otherwise wear my winter clothes till spring.
Ah... spring.. my favorite season of all!!!!
Tonite is my night to make supper.. it's chicken stew, and I have to get some veggies, so I'll be moving along now..
Praying for a good day..
Isaiah 25:7-8 NLT
There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly.
John 14:2 NLT
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again."
John 11:25 NLT
"There are two kinds of death—the cessation of life here on earth, and the missed opportunity to live in heaven with God forever.
To die physically is to leave our earthly body and our place in the earthly community.
To die spiritually, eternally, is to miss eternal residence in heaven with God and his people, to be separated from God forever.
When we die physically, we can be even more alive as we take up residence in God's eternal home with him and his people.
It is not pleasant to think of dying physically.
But it is devastating to think of missing heaven forever.

Obama speaks for 40-50 minutes, 20-30 minute longer than most political speeches. Have you ever wondered why Obama gives these long 40-50 minute speeches? Probably not, because most people do not even realize time has gone by. This process of pacing then leading, pacing then leading, again and again, as well as using other hypnotic language patterns is called “stacking language patterns” (as in, one on top of the other)
The hypnotist blends the process with embedded commands, anchors, emotional transfers, and other techniques. What occurs is that the critical factor is bored, worn down, gets tired, and stops being critical because it is too much work – then, the hypnotist’s effects increase.
“a light will shine down from somewhere, it will light upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will say to yourself, “I have to vote for Barack" as he secures this suggestion with hand signals aimed at you. By the way, Obama actually said this in a speech.
Read the full article .. it makes a lot of sense ..
The budget should be balanced,
the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced,
the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled,
and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.
People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.
-- Cicero , 55 BC
Certainly, not the God of the Bible.. let me explain..
He thinks, like the Pharisees, that if they could talk a lot more about God, people would think more of them, people would see how good and pure they are, but their hearts are so far from God, they cannot even be related to Christianity. Scripture says 'by their fruits you will know them'.. For what I can see, it's not painting a good picture for them.
First of all, there is no respect for human life within the so called "party of god". Indeed, they support partial birth abortion, a barbaric method of infanticide. Though any abortion is barbaric, this one is particularly nasty, and I would wonder about the moral standards of anyone who would support it. I suspect the elderly and infirm will be next, followed by those who care to disagree with their agenda. We will become the 'useless' members of society, and need to be eliminated. This agenda comes from the pits of Hell and the god is Satan himself.
And then there is the issue of same sex marriages which the "party of god" supports and relishes. In no place in scripture does it support this lifestyle, and indeed, it condemns it openly.
They say they want to 'help the poor', but everything they suggest only makes the situation worse, and as far as their own contributions to the poor, it's next to nothing. Scripture says we are to take care of our own.. our families, parents, children. There is an issue of Responsibility here.
It comes down to walking the walk and talking the talk.. They talk a lot, but there are no solid results other than the destruction that is left in their wake.
I slept a lot yesterday. Not sure why, but I was very tired all day. I slept all night too and woke up to Quinn and Rose. I enjoy listening to talk radio. I feel a concern that if the liberals take over the government, they will be gone as well as Beck and Rush. Just more of the freedoms that would be taken away under the liberal administration.
They are playing with the internet too. That annoys me also. I've been on the internet since 1997 when I only knew one other person who had an email addy- my cousin Karen. Since then, it's exploded and it's hard to find anyone who DOESN'T have an email addy.
Too much government involvement and we won't have that either.. or the government will find a way to own it too. I've used it for researching family history for years, and educating myself otherwise.. as well as a communication tool for our family and friends.
I love my BLOG and use it as my own personal journal that YOU are welcome to read if you wish. I plan to make a hard copy of it all before the government says I can't have my own opinion about anything.
In the mean time, I will continue to be outspoken about my world around me, my family and friends.
I've changed my Blog Name.. to According to Jemit.. I like that better. My email addy for the blog is the same, just the title has changed.
Things that annoy me:
1. Voter fraud.. too much .. can we not have a legal election? What's with Americans anyway?
OH.. I guess it's not patriotic Americans that are the problem.. illegal aliens, and those anti American groups that figure they can't win one legally. There are places that have more voters on the books than the population of legal voters..
2. Lying politicians.. Just for once during my lifetime, I'd like them to be honest with the people of this great nation. I want to see their agendas.. and then make an intelligent decision. And how about when a valid birth certificate is requested by the public and the courts, and the candidate won't produce one? That makes me think that there is fraud here.. perhaps one doesn't exist? Why not settle the issue and present the REAL one?
3. Taxes.. I remember the slogan of long ago.. "no taxation without representation".. it couldn't be more true today. We the people have no representation in congress. It's a renegade group of non patriots elected. Their promises are worth nothing, and their attitudes are elitist. They were elected to SERVE THE PEOPLE and vote accordingly. But they seem to be interested only in groups that pay them big bucks for their votes. Instead of reflecting the citizen's desires, they have decided that we, the people, don't have any brains.. and only they have enough sense. I hope the public will vote every one of them out of office.. I'd like the slate cleared totally.
I find them all cold and calculating.
4. Too much government.. schools need to get back to basics and be able to teach the important things.. reading, math, actual history (not the re-written one), civics, good literature (you know- the classics?) ..
Well, there are a lot more things that annoy me, but I'll talk about them at another time. Right now, I feel better for having gotten these things off my chest.
Our forefathers had good sense.. we should be remembering true history, the longer I live, the more convinced I am that we need to return to our roots:
"Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is useless. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.
"Benjamin Franklin is best known for his inventions (lightning rod) and his aphorisms ("early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise"). But he was also a key figure when the thirteen colonies were giving birth to a new nation.
At the age of 81, Franklin was the oldest representative at the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Weeks after the convention began, representatives were still haggling about the relative voting power of large states and small states. Then Franklin stood up and said,
The verse from Psalm 127 had its effect. A compromise was soon worked out, and a Constitution ratified by the states the following year.
adapted from The One Year® Book of Psalms with devotionals by William J. Petersen and Randy Petersen (Tyndale) entry for October 27"
There are, of course, 6 candidates..
Constitution Party: Chuck Baldwin
After running as the Constitution Party's vice presidential nominee in 2004, Baldwin has been promoted in 2008 to the top of the ticket. A Baptist pastor, he leads his party in advocating a conservative platform based on a strict reading of the Constitution. Baldwin, a former Republican, has criticized President Bush and the GOP as too liberal. He defeated Alan Keyes for the Constitution Party's '08 nomination – Keyes had also tried for the Republican nomination – and Baldwin has received the endorsement of Ron Paul, another former Republican presidential candidate.
To date, his campaign has raised $96,000 and spent $87,000.
Libertarian: Bob Barr
Former Rep. Bob Barr, once a Republican, announced that he's running for president on the Libertarian ticket, blasting the two major parties for not implementing more fiscal restraint. Barr, who helped successfully push through Bill Clinton's impeachment and who lost his Georgia House seat to redistricting in 2002, has maintained his leadership political action committee since then. He has raised $4.5 million through his PAC since the 2004 election cycle yet has given only 2 percent of that to other politicians -- a sign he was thinking about running for president.
His campaign has raised $855,000 and spent $796,000
Green Party: Cynthia McKinney
An ex-Democrat, McKinney was first elected to the House of Representatives from Georgia in 1992 but was ousted in 2002, and then forced out again in 2006 after having been re-elected in 2004. Consumer activist Ralph Nader, who's running as an independent in 2008, was the Green Party's nominee in 2000, when he raised $13.5 million. With little name recognition, McKinney will have a hard time topping Nader's 2000 fundraising, but she did manage to raise nearly $1 million to unsuccessfully defend her House seat in 2002. However, that was before she made news for physically confronting a police officer in 2006 for failing to recognize her when she entered the Capitol.
Her campaign has raised $0
Independent Party: Ralph Nader
In his third bid for president, Nader is facing some record-breaking fundraisers. In 2000, Nader raised $8.4 million as the Green Party's candidate. In 2004, the consumer advocate collected $4.6 million, with nearly $800,000 from public financing, and won a mere 0.3 percent of the vote as an independent. In both campaigns Nader relied mostly on small donations; his larger contributors tended to be retired individuals, educators, lawyers or in the entertainment industry.
His campaign has raised $3 million and has spent $3 million.
Republican Party: John McCain
McCain's campaign did a 180-degree turn this election cycle, going from nearly broke after last fall to emerging as the Republican nominee. Unlike his opponent, the Arizona senator has opted into the public financing system, limiting what he can spend to $84 million. He can, however, collect contributions to pay for the legal and accounting expenses necessary to comply with the public financing system and his party can spend its money on his behalf.
His campaign has raised $240 million and spent $204 million
Democrat Party: Barack Obama
2008 boosted Obama into the position of the most successful presidential fundraiser ever, in addition to the Democratic nominee. From the start he's had no problem bringing in the money or appealing to new donors, and has relied on small online donors and bigger donors nearly equally. After becoming the nominee, he opted out of the public financing system, making him the first major-party candidate since the system was created to decline taxpayers' money for the general election.
His campaign has raised $454 million and spent $377 million

Something gave him an awful fright.. Could have been a chicken or a cat... or something else!
To be sure, the weather report says it's 27 degrees in Butler. It has been well documented that we run 2-3 degrees less in the winter and several degrees more in the summer.
Our high today is only going to be 57 and the cold will stay with us at least till Wednesday. UGH.
So..... Hello winter. Not real happy that you are here, but we'll deal with it. Thanksgiving day is only 6 weeks away and Christmas is 4 weeks after that. Oh boy.. gotta get pulled together here.
I got my book by Randy Alcorn.. Heaven. It's really a good read. I'm about a third of the way through. When man sinned, the Curse touched all of God's creation. I am wondering if this is why we have such extremely cold weather and hot too? Once all of creation is resurrected, will we have winter as we know it? Scripture says God created seasons.. and I am certain that the leaves of the trees in autumn will be more than spectacular as we think of them today.
That reminds me.. it's not been a pretty fall.. the leaves sort of turned yellowy brown and then when we had the last windy rainy day, they landed in the yard.. and cold weather is upon us.
Folklore says that you can tell how severe a winter is going to be by the common 'woolly bear' caterpillar, though it's accuracy is only about 70% (so say the believers) .
Counting each of the 13 segments as a week of winter, the woolly bear 'reader' correlates the black segments at the front and rear of the caterpillar with the beginning and end of winter. The more black segments, the worse the winter, and vice versa, with the harshest weather occurring during the black-segment weeks. I've been told this winter is going to be severe according to the caterpillar.. we shall see. But don't look for me to pick up a handful of those bristly little buggers, as I did so as a child, but can't bear the thought of it now, let alone counting their black segments!
You'll just have to wait and see how much whining I do from here on to next spring.. aaacckk!

Face-off over converted garage could land woman, 83, in jail
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
October 18, 2008
Ageda Camargo was sitting in her shady frontyard, wondering aloud if jail is as bad as it sounds.
"I'm thinking of writing Martha Stewart to ask what it's like," said the soft-spoken 83-year-old. "Do they put you in a cell? I wouldn't want to be in a cell."
These weren't idle worries.
Camargo, a grandmother of six, has run afoul of La Quinta's code enforcement in a big way, big enough to put her behind bars.
The city near Palm Springs insists that one of her three bedrooms is really an illegally converted garage. She insists it's just a bedroom.
"What right do they have to call this a garage?" she asked, walking around the room with its cabinets, sink, bathroom and refrigerator. "I never called it a garage. How do they know it's not a bedroom? If this is a garage, then they owe me a bedroom."
For 18 months now, code enforcement officials have been after Camargo to turn the bedroom back into a garage. Insisting that her home is her castle, she has ignored more than a dozen warnings.
Her resistance crumbled last week when a local judge ordered her to comply or face possible jail time.
"It's traumatic. It's like tearing my house down," she said. "I bought this place 30 years ago, and it was always a bedroom. And now they are trying to shove this down my throat."
City building and safety director Tom Hartung said that an illegally converted garage poses health and safety risks but that going to court is a last resort.
"To say we should not enforce the ordinances based on the demographics of the owner of the property is unrealistic," he said. "We can't do that."
Hartung said that in his 25-year career, he's seen only one person jailed over a violation.
"I think we are very fair," he said. "I don't think you will find a more reasonable department."
Camargo grew up on a family farm in nearby Thermal. In 1977, she moved to Avenida Montezuma in La Quinta, attracted by the isolation and soaring views of the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains.
"I was crazy about those mountains," she said, relaxing under a vine-covered pergola in her frontyard. "There were no neighbors then, nothing but sand dunes. I loved it."
Her troubles began when a code enforcement officer spotted a light shining from her garage into the street, a code violation. He noticed her trash cans in front of the house (another violation) and weeds poking through the concrete (yet another one).
But what really caught his eye were the garage doors. They were firmly fixed in the driveway and didn't open. Windows lined one side wall of the attached structure.
"He began yelling orders at me and said he wanted to bring in inspectors," Camargo said. "He wanted to come in, and I said, 'No way am I going to let you in. Are you telling me this isn't America anymore?' "
Undeterred, code enforcement sent letter after letter warning that continued defiance could mean a fine or jail. The department gave her repeated extensions to undo the conversion. Still she didn't budge.
"I know rules are rules, but this is harassment," said Mike Head, Camargo's son. "She has undergone three surgeries in the last two years. She had breast cancer. She had brain surgery, which took her a year to recover from, and I still think she's a little dingy from that."
On a recent morning, in thick glasses and a long floral dress, she seemed more anxious than "dingy."
"I never had a garage," said Camargo, who parks in the driveway. "I don't need one or want one."
Nevertheless, the city finally took the gloves off. Code enforcement showed up recently with three inspectors, two police officers and a search warrant.
Jarrod Head, Camargo's 29-year-old grandson, who lives with her, was sleeping in the disputed bedroom when they arrived.
"They pushed right in," he said. "I said, 'What's this about?' but they were busy taking pictures. When I asked why they were taking pictures, the police asked me for my ID. I asked why they needed my ID, and they put me in handcuffs."
Camargo was indignant.
"I didn't like to see my grandson handcuffed," she said. "The inspector went into the bedroom and said, 'I can tell this has been added on.' They gave me two weeks to put it into compliance."
Mark Moran, a member of the Riverside County Advisory Council on Aging, called the situation "elder abuse." He filed a complaint with Adult Protective Services, which has opened a case.
"You would think Ageda Camargo was hiding Osama bin Laden in the house, given the way they have come after her," he said.
City prosecutor Noam Duzman denies that La Quinta is targeting the elderly woman. He said that the city has "bent over backward" to resolve the dispute but that Camargo has not been forthcoming and refuses to abide by the law.
"She believes that since she bought the house this way, it isn't her responsibility," Duzman said. "The county and city code says if you build or convert something, you need a permit. I get the feeling she felt if she stuck it out long enough we'd drop this -- but we won't because it's a public safety issue."
Last week Camargo was in court. The judge ordered her to pay a $3,000 fine, which she said she couldn't afford. She asked for the other option -- 30 days in jail.
"She insisted on jail time instead," Duzman said. "I went on record in front of the judge to say that the city did not recommend this."
The estimated cost of fixing the problem is $10,000. Camargo said she lives on Social Security and income from a reverse mortgage.
If the work is done by Jan. 12, the fine and threat of jail will be dropped.
"I don't think she should go to jail. She is an elderly woman," the prosecutor said. "I do believe, however, that she should be subject to the law just like everyone else."
