Direction of Prayer

But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,
so that you will become children of your Father in heaven, because he makes his sun rise on both evil and good people, and he lets rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Matt 5:44-45

I have been thinking about the direction of my prayers. I remember my family, friends, and my church and my pastor.. but I also remember our leaders ..world and national leaders. They need our prayer for their conversion. The Apostle Paul made it his business to persecute the Christian church in his day.. until his conversion. Who knows how many "Pauls" there are out there? We need to be praying for those who threaten us, who call themselves our enemies.. for our President and the candidates for the next election in our country. Prayer is the most powerful tool we can use in this world. Pray for conversions in the countries who hate us. Pray that evil would be stayed and defeated in our world, that Satan would be so bound that he can't function where people pray.

Jesus died so that ALL men would be saved. Those who persecute, those who kill our unborn, and those who hate us because we are called 'children of God'.. Pray for conversions on a global scale.

Pray for our congress, for hearts accepting of the gospel and hearts turned to Jesus. Pray that any evil that is contrived in their hearts would dissolve. Pray that evil would not overtake our senators and representatives.. that they would hear the voices of the 'people' and respond. But most of all that they would hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and respond to it first.

In humility, asking forgiveness for ourselves, we need to ask for God's mercy upon us and upon those who do not seek Him in our day.
