MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

When I was in elementary school we learned about the Nobel Prize. I remember this and have it ingrained in my memory (imagine that!). What we were told was that it was one of the highest 'world' honors bestowed on a person or organization for their outstanding accomplishments in a given area. It was something we should all look up to in awe.
RIGHT. I don't think so now that I'm older and hopefully wiser. It would seem that over the years it's become tarnished and given to some mighty strange folks. It has lowered our appreciation for the accomplishments it was meant for originally.
I suppose the whole world has gone this direction- these days we are bombarded with 'what is evil is good and what is good is evil'.
On a more positive note, this brings to mind Jesus who said "Rejoice! I've overcome the world".

I just wanted to add one more thing to my blog and then I'm heading for bed.
Thank you for praying for me. Your prayers were heard. I had such a great day today at the office with 11 patients needing infusions. I had much concern for this number of people in our little office not to mention the fact that yesterday I could bearly walk due to a flare up of fasciitis in my foot.
I got to work and got out of my car and stepped onto the pavement. The pain in my foot was gone.. and stayed gone all day.. just the slightest hint reminding me to always wear my supports in my shoes and then always wear my shoes.
The day went so smoothly I can scarcely believe it was a regular office day. All infusions went in with perfection and all patients did very well.
It also gave me an opportunity to talk to my employer about the power of prayer. He seems to be interested, but not sure. He is rather boggled by how well my day went. I told him it was because I asked for prayer from my family and friends and they supported me all the way. I explained to him about my fasciitis returning and how I needed help right now. He listened.
Pray that his heart will open to Jesus.
So thank you one and all for undergirding me all day- I felt it.

PRAYER REQUEST

This came today from Nancy, my internet friend from Idaho whose daughter in law Barb we have been following with prayer since her stroke.
I don't know this woman, but the request has been forwarded to me and now to you.

"A young woman in our church is in need of prayer. Friday night, a driver ran a stop sign and crashed into Katie Best's car. Katie was on the way to her husband's soccer game and when she did not arrive, her husband called the police. He was told she had been involved in a car accident and had been air-lifted to a nearby trauma center. Her parents were called and they were told to say their goodbyes to Katie because she was not going to make it. Her mother immediately called our prayer chain together for prayers and refused to give up on Katie. Katie lost the baby she was expected to deliver in December. She is suffering from many internal injuries, uncontrolled internal bleeding and a broken pelvis. Please place Katie on your very urgent prayer list. This has helped her to get this far, but she remains in critical condition. Thank you for your prayers for Katie, her family and her doctors."

COLD AND WET

I just looked outside- it has rained overnight and when I opened the front door, I noted mentally that I'd need my jacket today. It's not gonna get a whole lot warmer today. They are calling for 54 degrees- chilly with gentle wind.
I'm feeling a good bit better this morning as I'm preparing to go to the office. The foot is still a problem, but less a problem than yesterday- at least I can stand on it and walk without crying.
I'm praying it'll last at least till I get done today.
Nothing much happening today yet- it's early yet- 6:30am.

Remember to pray for us. Thank the Lord for His answer to prayer for us and continue to pray my foot will be relieved. Pray for my patients today that their treatments will be effective and that no one will have reactions to it.
Thank the Lord that He is still in charge of the world and mankind. Pray for conversions in our world leaders and those in authority. The world news is not encouraging. Jesus tells us to 'fear not-I've overcome the world"..and THAT is where I really am encouraged.

Years ago, I remember my Aunt Re had a little picture album she carried in her handbag. It had the letters S.O.G. with P.I.P. on it and one day I asked her what it stood for.. "Oh, Marilyn," she replied, "SILLY OLD GRANDMA WITH PICTURES IN PURSE"!! What else?!
So here I am... In my generation, it's not 'in purse' but on the computer.. so I'm the SILLY OLD GRAMMA WITH PICTURES ON COMPUTER !
I love going through the photos. They give me such a lift, and today I can use a lift. So I'm sharing more pictures of the past weekend with anyone who cares to look. Hey.. it's MY blog and I can post what I desire.. and I desire to post pictures!

Just a tad chilly here.. 50 degrees right now with a predicted 40 degrees tonite. This entire week should be in the low to mid 50s for highs.. UGH.. you know that winter is not too far in the future. We are enjoying the warmth of an Indian summer. Wendell is feeling much better now after another bout of GI disturbance. Must have been something he ate? I don't really know.
I've been struggling with some physical problems too.. feels like rain.. no, feels like a hurricane coming! The pain is so intense that it's got the plantar fasciitis in my foot in an uproar and I'm having difficulty walking today. Oh, for joy. I'd ask 'what next?' but I'm afraid I'd find out.

On top of all that, I didn't sleep a wink last night.. now, why did that happen? I'd been doing so well with sleeping. Maybe it was my CPAP mask that kept sliding around on my face all night. It hisses so loud it keeps me awake- or perhaps the O2 outlet that was open last night too.. I was tired. Too tired to get up and examine the dopey thing.

So tonite we had left over pizza that we'd frozen from the pizza party. It was good. I am not very hungry, but it filled the need to eat.

Tomorrow is office day. I am a little concerned as to how I'm going to be on my feet for so many hours when my left foot is giving me so much discomfort. I have 11 patients to see. My assistant is out of town on vacation.

Well, not the best news to report today. Hopefully tomorrow's news will be much more positive.

Pray for us. Pray I'll be strong and healthy enough to do my job well tomorrow without pain.
Pray for Nicki and Dave ........ and remember Barb too. And Aunt Mary Jane who is at Harmar Village and alone.
Pray for our nation, for our leaders who want to remove the name of God from all around us.
"the fool has said in his heart, there is no God".. Abominable!
Pray our nation would turn our hearts to Jesus and be changed. Pray for revival. Pray our freedoms that have been disappearing one by one slowly.. would be returned to us. Ask for God's divine intervention.
Pray for world leaders to turn from their evil ways.

Tomorrow is another day..

Hello... It's been a fine day today.. temperatures are moderate- it's in the 50s right now.
I got sent home from work early.. downsized.. that makes me smile.
Word from the Zombecks is that they landed in Arkansas and it was fun. I'm so glad the flight was uneventful for her first trip.
Tomorrow I plan to clean up around here a bit. I have so much to do yet. I'll be off till Thursday when I go back to the office.

Wendell is under the weather with GI problems tonite. Poor thing..

Autumn leaves are falling.. but the colors are not spectacular~ more drab. Too bad. I do note that the little pots of salad tomatoes have blossoms again.. maybe??...??

Here is the latest word on Barb:
Duane called last night to tell us Barb had had a good day. Some dear friends came bringing humor .

She spelled out "water plants!" I shared with Duane, that four plants are in bloom. Water does wonders!

He requested Prayer that the insurance would continue to pay. Tuesdays, are when the insurance make their decisions.
Pray Barb shows progress.

God's gift of salvation

"Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.

The afternoon of Aldersgate "On May 24, 1738, John Wesley was depressed.

He had been wrestling with spiritual questions. Was faith alone enough for salvation?

If so, could a man be converted instantaneously?

That afternoon at London's St. Paul's Cathedral, he heard an anthem sung that opened his heart. Based on Psalm 130, it began, "Out of the deeps of long distress, the borders of despair…" He was greatly moved because the anthem from Psalm 130 told his personal story.

That evening he attended a meeting in a little chapel on Aldersgate Street, heard a reading from the introduction to Luther's commentary on Romans, and felt his heart "strangely warmed."

He had taken the leap from verse 1 to verse 5 of the psalm.

Many outstanding Christians have loved this psalm. One of them was John Owen, who wrote an extended commentary on it—with nearly three hundred pages on verse 4 alone!

He loved that verse because once when he was "brought to the mouth of grace" and when his soul was "oppressed with horror and darkness," that fourth verse brought him close to God.

God offers forgiveness, verse 4 says.

Forgiveness is God's free gift.

Everyone has gone back home now.. it's quiet here.. almost too quiet. I got home early from work by about 20 minutes.. John and Mandy left me a disk with over 100 pictures they'd taken with their camera.. so I was sorting through them. I liked these ones..

The Zombecks are leaving for Arkansas this morning.. Mandy's first flight. I could have given her my suggestions for flying, but .. she's not nervous about it really and she'll have to discover the wonder of flying personally. I loved my first flight.. fabulous!
Now it will REALLY be quiet around here...

Gotta get to bed.. work awaits tomorrow.. ugh... but thankful I have it.

It seems like only yesterday when we were married.. and then along came Paul, JJ, Wendy, and Mandy.. now they are all married and we have grandkids too.. Today was an extra special day when we were all together again if only for the day.
John set up his tripod and set the timer.. and this was the result.. You can't get this big of a group to be totally cooperative in front of the camera.. but we did our best on short notice.
What a crew!!

PIZZA PARTY

Today was a day I've been waiting for.. when we had our pizza party. Such fun we had all day.
It was super exciting to think we had all of our children present and all of our grandchildren too. I was trying to figure out how many we actually had here today.. I think 30. That's a lot.. Zombecks bought the pizza- 12 of them! We ended up with 4 too many. They won't go to waste. Around here, cold pizza is a breakfast food.
Tomorrow we are hoping to have everyone in church with us and then head on back here to a lunch of ham barbecues followed by make your own banana splits.. WOOHOO!!!
I think before lunch we will have John set up a tripod and take our group picture.. all of us together. Who knows when we will be able to do this again?
