This afternoon JJ and I canned tomatoes. 15 qt and 12 pt. Charlie picked his crop and we split the jars between us. The tomato crop this year has not been good. Charlie said he planted enough to feed our entire family and give each 2 bushels to boot. But with the lack of water.. drought.. the tomatoes are small, odd shaped, and not very many. They rotted on the vines with no water. Charlie said he priced potatoes today at our local grocery.. $10/10#. He says after we get a good rain he'll dig the ones in the garden, but right now, the soil is like rock.. again from lack of water.
We did have gray clouds today, but not a drop of water.
I suppose we'd better can the excess crop.. if there is one.
