Though I'd like to say it was a pleasant and uneventful drive home Saturday evening, it was not. It had started to snow at Valentines before we left, and that made us feel like we should start earlier for home than we'd planned.
The snow squalls were quite heavy and before we got very far on I-80, we felt like we were in a blizzard complete with white outs for long stretches. At one point we went 35 mph for about 20 miles.. there was at least 3" of snow on the road and we couldn't see 30' ahead many times. And of course there was one very brilliant person who just turned on his right turn signal and stopped dead in the highway without pulling off. The tractor trailer in front of us nearly rear ended him.. after we passed him, he pulled out behind us and followed very closely- more like tailgating. I don't know where this person got his license to drive- Walmart perhaps?
Anyway, Wendell was skillful in maneuvering our little Honda down the highway, and we arrived home safely just before 3am.
I'm happy to be home and ready for bed. I'm planning to post pictures of our week..
