FLOOD PHOTOS

The cleanup has begun up in NY where our family lives. JJ and I went for a drive in the morning and took pictures.. the worst aren't seen here- they are still on JJ's camera. We'll both be blogging our trip.
This first photo is the yard beside Valentine's home. When they got home, Esther told me there was "water everywhere".. By the looks of this scene.. she's right. This swing set is now set low to the ground in sludge, rocks and whatever.. The rocks come right up to the edge of Valentine's driveway. There were other play things in the yard, but either they are buried in the rocks or washed away.

This was on our way home Saturday afternoon.. a little town between Conklin NY and Hallstead PA..
The streets are lined with trash and furniture items, and all sorts of belongings..now ruined by the floods.
We noted a stench as we drove through Conklin.. even with the windows up. The entire city of Conklin was evacuated during the flooding, and the evidence of it was present on every house.. each had a red/orange mark on it.. like a tic tac toe board.. We thought at first it was graffitti, but Terri, a flood victim, told us about these marks. The first number was any occupants of that house during the evacuation. The next was dangerous situations in that house..like possible gas leaks..and the third identified the persons checking the house.
They also had a green board on many doors noting that these homes were rechecked after the floods and safe to return to. Then we noticed so many homes also had a big huge red X on them.. these are the ones that are condemed. There were way too many of these.
We stopped along the roadside in various places we saw of interest.. here is an RV washed up on a small islet in the river. It was a huge RV..
We both looked at this car.. it was totally covered in mud.. the picture doesn't do it justice.
This was a common sight everywhere.... dumpsters full to capacity. This one was in a plaza in Hallstead where Valentines like to shop..
Rob's Market was totally covered in water.. Many of the businesses were destroyed totally.. you could see in the front door through to the back.. mud, gluck, and just trash everywhere..
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Hallstead....I ate there in May when I was up to visit. It's washed out..
Lots more to tell..... more pictures to share.......
Our Owego RP Church was damaged for the 2nd time by flooding. My home church, Manchester RPC sent flood relief money to help out. I'm turning the check over to Matt in this picture.
