Well, whaddya know? Maple Syrup has it's own day! Mmmmmm.. great on pancakes or waffles!!
A maple tree has to be about 45 years old and about 12 inches in diameter for it to be tapped. A single tap will produce about 10 gallons of sap, but it takes about 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup.
Now, don't you feel smart?
We live among hundreds of maple trees. I can remember Wendell's dad wanting to tap the trees here. We never did, but he considered it.
