STAPLES ARE OUT

"Cast all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7"

WooHoo! It's cold here in Butler- 31 degrees this morning. AND.... we may get some snow so the weatherman says.
Today was the BIG day when Wendell finally got the stitches/staples out of his legs. Wish I'd brought a bullet for him to bite. It's hard to see someone you love have so much discomfort while knowing that in the end it will bring blessed relief. So they are all out and have a tad bit of oozing (normal). Dr Davliakos saw him today and said everything looks good. He needs a couple more weeks of healing yet, and won't be allowed to drive for 2 more weeks, and then, just little trips close to home.
He has an appointment in 6 months to see the vascular surgeons again about his left carotid artery which has moderate placque- not enough for more surgery, but enough that they will keep a close watch to see what happens in the next few months. He's scheduled for a carotid doppler study in October. How wonderful it is to live in this day and age of technology.
That's the update for now.

Im glad to hear Dad is doing better. Are they putting him on Plavix for the left side? Or something like it for the plaque?

No.. just the lipitor for cholesterol and the lopressor for his blood pressure.
AND the most important thing is his diet-low cholesterol and low fat. We are reading labels!
I met with Gretchen the dietitian again today. She brought lots of good interesting info on dieting and sample packs of the dressing we talked about before.. Walden Farms? I think that's right- but in his favorite- Ranch. She said to go easy on it, but use it if he likes it. She is such a dear.
The Plavix is for blood clotting- it slows down the platelets-doesn't let them clump. I use it and aspirin. Dad uses aspirin daily too- 81 mg enteric coated.
